Hi, Drake! Thanks for your question.
The names for my books are based on events in the stories. They come about as I'm writing the first draft. Names for places and people come about as I'm writing the synopsis, chapter summaries, or the story. Most often, names just pop into my head. I don't research them ahead of time.
I hope this answers your question.

My child was babbling a song in her room down the hallway. After puttering in the kitchen to cook supper, I noticed the house was silent.

That's a scary question! Most of the books I read are set in fantasy worlds during a time of serious trouble. When I read them I feel as if I am there, but to actually go to those places? I am currently reading Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn, and to live in a world where the dark ruler won the battle and made life miserable for everyone who fought against him; well, that would be a good reason to join those trying to fight against him this go around.

This summer I will be working on Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series and J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series (yes, I am just now reading them!). That should keep me busy enough for awhile.

This mystery did not happen in my own life but in my family history. My great-great grandparents had two sons. During a move from Ohio to Indiana, one of those sons disappeared and was never seen again. There is some confusion in the story that he might have been travelling with family friends making the same move. He possibly was sent back to his family or ahead to the friends, but in the process, he never turned up where he was supposed to be. I know children during that time were not always supervised as closely as they are now, but I am sure his loss was just as devastating to my great-great grandmother as it would have been to me. No one in the family ever found out what happened to him.

I have always liked Mat Cauthon and Tuon in Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series. Their relationship always intrigued me, because at first they felt they had to be a couple because of the vision Mat had of his future, but then they started to like each other. Their love developed out of their mutual appreciation as they put aside each other's imperfections and accepted the other person as they were.

I very seldom ever have true writer's block when I don't have anything to say. If it does happen, I just assume the story isn't ready to be written yet and I work on proofreading or editing something else.
On a funnier note, my most frequent writer's block has orange and black fur, four paws, and a tail, and she likes to sit right in front of my computer monitor!

The best thing about being a writer is the sudden rush of excitement when a new idea comes for a story. The second best thing about being a writer is being able to tell that story so others can enjoy it with you.

Never stop writing, even if you think your work is horrible. Let it sit for a while then go back and look at it with a fresh view and polish it as needed.

I don't do anything special to get inspired to write. When the story is ready to be written, it tells me. I see it playing in my head like a movie, and I feel a fire burning inside of me until I finish writing. After I finish the basic story, then I go back and add details and back story.

I am currently proofreading "Hidden Trail" the third book in my young adult series, "Stolen Heritage". I am also working on "Passing" a book in the sequel series, "Chosen Heritage". I hope to have "Hidden Trail" ready to publish by the end of summer.

The idea for my most recent book came from the book that preceded it. In "The Crystal Journey", the elves wish they can go to Kirsta's world, but I needed a reason why besides Aldina just wanting to visit; hence the assignment to track down the fugitive Liastra.
