There are no such thing as aspiring writers, in the same way that there's no such thing as an aspiring jogger. If you jog, you're a jogger.
The number one piece of advice I would give to novice writers is to get as much feedback as possible and to take it in with an open mind, but don't change things willy-nilly just because one person doesn't like something.

Being a writer is a lot of fun. I like telling stories, and it's awesome to have other people read what I've written and enjoy it.
