Write. But please don't publish it on Amazon as soon as you type "the end." Seek out other writers to help you polish your work. Treat yourself as a professional and do the work. Attend workshops, conferences (as safely as you can) and listen to the experts. That does not mean you have to change your story or your style, but it does mean you can probably make it stronger and better. Most of my books go through four or five drafts before they are ready to meet their public.

I find great satisfaction in being able to kill the people who are vexatious. Some writers wear a shirt or have a sign near their desk that says, "Be careful, you might wind up in my next novel." I don't know that they do actually do that. Though I may carefully disguise you, trust me, if you annoy me enough, you will be in my next novel.

Writers block is a fiction created by people who are afraid to write. I am often stuck in a story, unsure where to go with the plot. When that happens, I strike out in a different direction, either by reconfiguring the plot or working on a different story. I always find it a wonderful surprise to see what my brain/fingers will spew out onto the screen.

I recently discovered a sister I never knew I had. We met and formed a bond. That was two years ago. Since then, we found one more older sister who chose not to respond. Our oldest brother told us a story about our father that makes us believe we also have a sister in Italy where he was stationed with the military when I was a toddler. Since all but one of the parents are deceased and the living one refuses to communicate with us, we are at a standstill in our search for more siblings.

For a long time I did it to entertain myself and see how the stories would work out. Now my inspiration is in the form of a contract for the third book in the Blenders series from Champagne Book Group. The second book in the series, Swimming Corpse, is being released on August 4th.

The Reluctant Daughters to be released in August, came to me as a full-fledged story in a dream. No kidding. I saw the young women in their period dresses, their grandmother sitting at the top of the stairs listening to them, and grandmother's assistant, Ledger, fully clothed in his diplomatic outfit including a top hat. I even saw Mary Ellen in the opium den and was surprised to find when I researched that unbelievable concept, that my vision was accurate. The only item missing was Elisabeth Ackert Riis' plot for revenge against the senator.
