Susan Denning Good morning Maureen,
Thank you for your kind note. I am sorry to say I have not received any offers from audio books companies to record EMBRACE THE WIND. Amazon does have something called "text-to-speech." This is the description:
Text-to-Speech is available for the Kindle Fire HDX, Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle (2nd generation), Kindle DX, Amazon Echo, Amazon Tap, and Echo Dot.
I have never used it, but perhaps it can help you. Please let me know if it works. I would love to let others with sight problems know.
All the best to you,
Susan
Susan Denning Like many readers, I love Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy. Despite the social restrictions of her time, Elizabeth says what she thinks and does what she believes is right-yet she gets her man. She is an independent woman, like Jane herself. I also like the development of their relationship. It demonstrates that sometimes the last person you think you would love is the perfect person for you. In my novel Far Away Home, that is exactly what Aislynn learned about Johnny.
For those of you who are thinking of self-publishing, remember that's how Jane Austen got her start.

Fortunately, I don't suffer from writer's block. My characters push me to tell their stories. That is why I price my books at $0.99. I did not begin writing to make money (few self-published authors ever make a profit). I write to share their stories, and maybe a bit of history, with as many readers as possible.
Susan Denning Enjoy the process. Think of it as creating not working.
Susan Denning I am currently in the process of publishing the sequel to Far Away Home, Embrace the Wind. It will be released in early March 2017. In this novel, Aislynn is in a new town, facing new challenges. Here's the description:

What is the cost of living life on your own terms? For a young woman on the American Frontier, the price can be high.

Aislynn Maher trusted the wrong man. To conceal her disgrace, she abandons her job, her home, her family and friends. She turns to the raw, contentious US marshal of the Wyoming Territory, Orrin Sage, who is hiding a guilty secret of his own.
Setting out alone, Aislynn brings her optimism and determination to Cheyenne. But in this rough town, with its prejudice, violence and lawlessness, it’s not just difficult to do what you believe is right ─ it's potentially deadly.
This unlikely love story details real triumphs and tragedies from frontier women’s letters, diaries and newspapers of the day, and places Aislynn in the center of their history. Embrace the Wind illuminates an intimate picture of the American frontier; the story of the women who changed the West and helped forge the freedoms we enjoy today.
Susan Denning I actually never planned to write a sequel to Far Away Home. I ended the story with Aislynn becoming an independent woman who could make her own choices. I knew the rest of Aislynn's story, but as a self-published author, I never imagined people would find the book, read it and ask for the next chapter of the story. To my great surprise, the novel sold almost 200,000 copies and it has over 900 reviews. Consequently, I listened to my readers, and I have written the sequel. This novel finds Aislynn in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1870. My research revealed that this was an exciting time and a shockingly progressive place for women. Who knew? Embrace the Wind will be released in early March 2017.
