I'd spent years of my childhood maladaptive daydreaming. My imagination ran wild for so long, I'd always made stories inside my mind but I never considered I could put them to paper and share them with others without being crazy. When I'd finally spent a while reading, it dawned on me that I could finally do what I'd always wanted, and thus my career in writing was born.

Take a break and fill your cup. Do things that center yourself and bring you joy. For me, that's going for a long walk, getting an hour+ massage, exercising, etc. Anything that allows your mind to be free. When the mind is free of burdens, creativity blooms.

My best advice is to research and then just write. Even if it's barebones, minimalistic, and hardly makes sense. Putting pen to paper is the hardest part. Hell, it's what I should be doing right now.

Unbroken was originally based on a dream I'd had as a child. In my dream, I was being hunted as a young girl, my parents were murdered to get to me, and I ran into the forest to escape their murderer.
As an adult, I knew I wanted to turn it into a book, and thus, the premise for Shadows of Dusk was born.
