I don't plan my reading that far in advance.

Where do all my socks go?

I've always wanted to write a love story, but I'm not the sort of writer who likes to stick to genre rules. It occurred to me that I found it very hard to find the kind of book, like "Missing Pieces", out in the wild. The original idea came from a dream, and was a lot different than what the final product became (which is something much better). But that seed of inspiration is what birthed it. And I always keep notes and write down my ideas to review later!

I read other people's writing. Watch good movies. Always write down my ideas, no matter how silly or seemingly unimportant. Mostly, I just love to write. Writing from a point of knowing nothing of where I'm going can sometimes lead to the greatest inspiration.

I'm currently working on edits for my next novel and a very dark collection of short stories. I'm also writing another novel, but most of my time, at this moment is spent on rewrites and marketing.

Don't quit. Almost every rejection is great advice on how to not be rejected next time. Almost every negative review is also great advice on how to improve your writing. If people hate you, don't pay attention to them. Write for yourself and for the people who enjoy your writing. Focus on the positive. If you spend too much time dwelling on the negative, you're effectively digging yourself a ditch that just gets deeper.

Aside from the personal satisfaction and fun I derive from writing, the best thing would be knowing that I've entertained someone or made them think about something they might not have considered or feel something that they want or need to.

I keep on writing. Even if it's garbage. Sometimes you have to write out all the bad stuff so you can get to the really good stuff.
