I find inspiration everywhere. It can be from looking at a tree or listening to a song. I try to be open to all the possibilities around me.

The best thing about being a writer is meeting my audience. I write picture books, and visit schools and public libraries.. During my visit, I have various presentations, the facilitynmcan choose from, where I interact with the children. Knowing I have an impact is an amazing feeling.

To not give up. If you truly want to be published, be prepared to be in it for the long haul. Take time to learn your craft, network with others, gather a few treasured writing friends and listen to what they have to say, and to reach for the stars!

It was a combination of a commercial and me walking. A commercial came on about songs for children. The Wheels on the Bus was one of the songs. Later that evening I went on my daily walk and the song popped up in my head. The next thing I started thinking about was a playground. By the time I made it home, I had dictated the first draft on the voice recorder on my phone.

I like to participate in writing challenges, like Tara Lazar's PiBoIdMo, to build up ideas that I can tuck away. I have an Ideas Jar that has pieces of paper with ideas written on each piece. It can be a title, a situation, characters, etc. that is written on the paper. Whenever I feel stuck or in a rut, I will go through my ideas and usually something will get me going again.
