I have a great-great grandfather that has no record before turning 18. It's like he just appeared one day. I believe he was a coal miner at one point in his life and a preacher.
But before filling out the selective service forms there is nothing about him that my dad and I have found.
Who was he before? Where did he come from? Was he really from the coal mining areas of Ohio and West Virginia?
