Unfortunately, my characters aren't based off of real people!
To make my characters, I thought a lot about the kinds of folks you might find on the Homestead, and the different ways people might react to a history of colonization. The character sketches began there.
Names though, do often belong to my family and friends though I make sure to always put their name on a character that is nothing like how they are in real life. My family gets a kick out of seeing their name in a book because they're not ones that you'd typically find in fantasy.
