I just did this very thing! My latest book, Of Ripeness & The River, is based on a recurring dream fragment I've had since I was a child; I always thought it was 'evidence' of having lived a life in a previous era. So I finally wrote an historical novel about just that--a woman in 1982 searching for her past life in 1894--dual-time-period stories, every other chapter, which come together in the end very satisfyingly (if I do say so myself!).
