It's a little like fishing. I let my imagination run free for a while, before reeling it in. That's when I start writing.

Write like you'll never write again. A rather strange thing to say, isn't it? But think about it. How important is it really, to finish that one novel or essay or whatever? About as important as filing a tax return: that is, the government doesn't need your money, they just need your compliance. Who is making you finish that novel? Finish it, not because you have to but because you want to. And if you never do, let it be because you don't want it to end and not because you are worried it will never succeed without you.

I near to putting the finishing touches on my second novel "Jenneway's Pond" which should be available by January 2025.

For my novella Peninsula, I guess the germ of the idea came from the passage in John Donne's Meditations, "No man is an island". Instead of an island, I thought why not a peninsula, which means "almost an island"? Thus, my main character lives in a house on a peninsula, attempting to isolate himself from the world. Yet, somehow the world, or at least one other person, comes into his life and prevents him from obtaining complete seclusion.

Sometimes, you just have to step away from it and go do something else. After a while, something comes to you, and you're back at it.
