Thomas F. Zahler It's pretty trite, but I take walks. With no headphones! (Well, I can put them in when I solve the problem.) I'm sure people in my town think I'm weird for mumbling to myself as I walk around, but it really helps.
Thomas F. Zahler Do it! Stop thinking about it, stop contemplating. Make the thing, even if it's just for yourself, because it's far easier to edit a story if it's written. And don't wait for permission. I kept waiting for someone to anoint me a writer, until I decided I had enough of a story to tell and the confidence to do it. I wish I'd done it sooner.
Thomas F. Zahler I've read comics as long as I can remember. It was just encoded in my DNA that I wanted to make them. When I went to the Kubert school, it really crystalized my intentions. I self-published "Raider" in 2002 and haven't looked back.
Thomas F. Zahler I get to lie for a living.
Thomas F. Zahler I currently write and draw "Warning Label" for Line Webtoons. www.bit.ly/warninglabel It's the story of a woman cursed by her ex-boyfriend that ever guy who asks her out gets the warning label of what they need to watch out for.
Thomas F. Zahler "Time and Vine" came about because of two things. One, Kurt Busiek mentioned on Twitter that he'd like to see a book about wine. And something just clicked and using it as a time travel device really made sense because of its history. Then, on a walk in the fall, I saw the leaves changing, the passage of time and I just knew all of Jack's story. Once those things happened, I had to make the book.
