I read a really famous fantasy series in which the heroes kept getting more and more powerful, and it seemed that nothing could ever harm them. I began to think that the author loved his characters so much that he'd never do anything bad to them. The problem is, this killed all the tension in the novels.
I also thought Luke Skywalker should have turned to the dark side and joined his father in The Empire Strikes back. Of course, this would have been extremely unpopular, and George Lucas never would have done it, but it's what I would have done. Luke was too emotional and too rash to make a good Jedi. A good Sith, howerver...
Finally, instead of complaining about other works, I decided to create my own. I decided to write books where the good guys get beaten up and where, sometimes, the good guys aren't so good.

I'm in the final stages of proofreading Shadow of the Knight (coming December, 2015). While doing that I'm also working on the outline for The Dromost Gate (book four of The Orb).

Keep on writing. When you finish one project, go on to the next one. I waited far too long to start Child of the Knight. I should have started it the day I finished Eternal Knight. I know better now.

Nothing beats the feeling I get when someone says they like what I've written. It is a tremendously rewarding feeling to know that someone gained enjoyment from something that came from my imagination.

This has never been a major issue from me. I might become temporarily "stuck" on a scene from time to time, but usually this is only temporary. It can usually be cured by stepping away from the computer and walking it off.
Often, if I'm stuck on a scene, it's because there's something wrong with the scene.
