Gunner Long My next book of course! As for more information about what my next book is about, well... wouldn't you like to know?
Gunner Long Be ready to work. Believe me, I tried to find a secret weapon on writing books faster or better, but there's only one thing that will lead you from a blank screen to a finished book: consistency. Every time you look at that blank screen, think about why you started, and how this is for, and let the words flow. After many sleepless nights, it will be finished. And the final result? So worth it.
Gunner Long Having your own book on your shelf. I smile every time I see my book sitting there. Other than that, other people coming up to you and telling you that they loved your book is pretty gratifying too.
Gunner Long The best thing to do is to just write through it. There are always times when you're not feeling it, when what you write is terrible. But you can always go back and fix it. You can't do that if you just stop. Sometimes I'll read a book or do something else and come back to it as a fresh start.
Gunner Long It was always something I enjoyed doing. I would write about all sorts of things, and I started a bunch of books before Insurrection about knights and battles. I think seeing a need for more books that were action packed but also Christian pushed me to finish the first book.
Gunner Long The biggest thing is consistency. You have to sit down and write, plan, and think about every element that you’re going to use. It’s tough. But there is no secret ingredient, it’s just hard work. Your commitment will pay off. Make sure you plan out where the story starts and ends, or else you won’t be happy with either!
Gunner Long The best thing? I can’t say. Obviously when people come up to you and ask for your signature, that’s pretty neat, but there aren’t any perks, besides the fact that you’re doing something you love.
Gunner Long You just have to keep writing. Even if it’s terrible and you don’t know what to write, write. You can always fix it later. Sometimes I read other books or plan more for the book I’m working on to get momentum.
Gunner Long I’d like to read some more books by John Bunyan, like The Holy War and The Heavenly Footman. I also plan to read more books in the Ranger’s Apprentice series, and hopefully War in the Wastelands by Douglas Bond.
