Sheilah Roberts My most recent book was a children's book about a mouse who lived underneath our garbage box in PCSP, NL. I'm not sure if people in other parts of the country have garbage boxes, but here in NL it is a common site. People, particularly those who live in the country, have built wooden boxes at the ends of their driveways. These boxes usually have hinged lids an the weekly garbage is stored in there in big green plastic garbage bags. One day when I walked down to the end or the driveway to the garbage box I noticed a little mouse scoot underneath and figured there must be a family of mice living there. The phrase 'The garbage box mice' sort of tickled my imagination and that's what started it.
Sheilah Roberts Breath and that's about it.
Sheilah Roberts Too much. A non fiction book that I am ready to rip to shreds, but I've already put so much work in on it that I HAVE to finish it.
My second children's book. Waiting on some feedback from a friend before I submit it to my pubisher.
A YA book that I started a hundred years ago. This is a complete mess. Because it was my first attempt, it has every mistake in the book (pardon the pun) and I have to de-piece and re-piece it back together. I refuse to commit it to an early grave.
I have 2,3,4, and more other books worked out in my head and some research done that Im just dying to get at, but that could take many years. Might not live long enough ...lol
Sheilah Roberts Not sure if I have any. If you want to write you are going to do it anyway. Just look around and see what others are doing. If you make mistakes, you'll learn from them.
Sheilah Roberts You get to create a better or worse world than the one your living in. It's a lot of fun, but an awfulllllll lot of hard work.
Sheilah Roberts I don't get writers' block. If something doesn't come it is, what I call writers' barrier and I bulldoze it over and over until I get through. Seriously, I have amazing faith in my subconscious. I trust it to come through with solutions to deep problems in my plot/character etc. and it always does. Not at first. Sometimes I've got to keep hammering and hammering away at it. Right now I'm trying to take out the multiple points of view that I made the mistake of writing in and I HAVE to bring it down to one or two points of view. Not easy after the whole book is written:( But I'm in hammering mode now. :0) Also, there is no such thing as now being able to think about something to write. You just sit down with fingers on keyboard or pen and paper and begin to moan to yourself about why you can't think of anything to write and the pen/keyboard takes off....
