It's really hard. I find I have to delegate some duties and let the kids learn from them. I often have to wake up early or stay up later than I would like, whatever I have to do to get the job done. I am also a Travel Agent, so I have to juggle two really time-consuming jobs -- though I love them both. I am thankful for drive that fuels me when I am tired, frustrated or discouraged. Sorry it's just a version of do what you have to do to put BIC (butt in chair), but it's the truth and I hope it's helpful nonetheless.

My most recent book deal that's pending is Moldilocks and the 3 Scares. I love the Goldilocks story and wanted to do a mash-up. I daydreamed and saw the main characters as a Frankenstein Monster, A Mummy, and a little Vampire boy. Then, I envisions Moldilocks as a Zombie, which makes sense as it would be a moldy monster that rhymed with Goldilocks. What I didn't realize is that they each felt their lives were incomplete and that my fractured fairy tale story would evolve into a story about finding a family. That all occurred during the writing. Sometimes you just have to write and follow the story to where it leads.

Hmmm...by the people, places and things all around. By ideas that pop up in my imagination. I don't think I wait for inspiration, necessarily. I think I just review my ideas, grab the one that speaks to me most at that moment, and write. Even if it doesn't become a book, it's all practice and it all informs my success.

I am working on a non-fiction book called "Let's Eat Around the World" which explores children's customs and cultures and what details are different from country to country. It's a fun book to write and speaks to the Travel Agent side of me. I am enjoying traveling from country to country through food :) I am also working on a picture book about two mummy brothers who share a room in the afterlife and must learn to get along for eternity.

To, whatever genre you choose to write in, study it inside and out. Read, write, revise, take classes, join a critique group, go to conferences, and keep reading, writing and revising BEFORE submitting.

Mostly to read. But sometimes to clear my head by day dreaming, taking a walk, floating around in the pool and/or doing something different for change. However, I don't really believe in Writer's Block and know that there are many ways to come up with ideas to fall back on. Part of the secret is just keep trying!
