Megan Effertz I commit to writing 15 minutes. Doesn't matter what words come out on the paper. I can't leave my computer until I've written for 15 minutes. Sometimes it shakes the ideas lose and I write longer. Sometimes not, but generally I have something I can use later - ideas start to form. I usually take those ideas on a run and imagine where they could go.
Megan Effertz For me, it's an escape. I started writing seriously, when I was going through a really hard time in my own life. It was a way for me to step away from the stress and the reality I was living in, to a simpler, happier world.
Megan Effertz Just write. Don't edit. Let it all come out. There is plenty of time for editing later. Let the story take the shape it wants and you can fine tune it when you're done.
Megan Effertz I've had several readers want to know what happens to Maddie + Max next. I wasn't planning on writing a sequel but one started taking shape in my mind. I've got the first five chapters written and bouncing around some storylines.
Megan Effertz I was asked what's the wildest dream you have and I answered it without hesitation and said to have a Netflix series. It was in that moment I decided to write Maddie + Max so I would have the story outline for a tv series. I started writing bits and pieces here and there and then eventually decided to really focus and pull all the pieces together into a book.
