Alison Bruce Ask yourself, why are you aspiring to be a writer. If it's because you love to write, learn your craft and keep working at it. Don't give up. Learn from your critics, but don't be driven by them.
Alison Bruce I can tell you what the best thing is about being a published author: you get paid for doing something you've been doing for years previously without pay. I started writing stories when I was twelve. I would still be writing now, even if I wasn't selling my work. But I am. And people like it.

That's the best thing: when you write something and your reader gets it.
Alison Bruce Sorry. It's been a crazy 6 months. And I've had writers block for half of it. In part I've been too busy with other work. To deal with writers block, I have to physically and mentally clear my desk.
Alison Bruce My most recent book, MEN IN UNIFORM, is at the galley stage. You'll have to stay tuned for the release date.

A few years ago I was longing for hardwood flooring to replace our horrible poop brown carpet. The co-op was upgrading the flooring, but I was low on the list. I thought about ways to get myself bumped up. It came to me, dead body in the living room. I'd come home to discover it and get a living room makeover when the case was solved. That lead to the opening scene of MEN IN UNIFORM.

You'll be relieved to know that I did get my new flooring and no one had to die.
