Just relax and try to power through. sometimes just letting go and reading might help - I read voraciously. Try to connect with other authors. I also usually have several books in the works at once and sometimes trying to work on one of my other books will help. The story flows through me kind of like a movie in my head - it's not something that can be forced - but sometimes it's a trickle and sometimes it's a flood and I just enjoy the ride however it comes.

Sometimes dreams, sometimes random thoughts that pop into my head but it all stems from a very, very active imagination. No matter what I'm doing - taking a walk, doing dishes, gardening, cleaning the house - my mind is constantly running with ideas, characters, stories - almost like a weird unedited movie that never stops playing

A very strong secondary character from my last book had a story that needed to be told. My books have a lot of characters in them and sometimes the most unexpected, minimal character will stand up and come to the forefront of my mind so much that I have to tell their story in another book
