What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
W.M. Gunn Open your creative mind to the events and conversations around you. That means all you hear on TV or in a bar; what you read online or in print; and what your family, friends, and neighbors discuss.

Make notes, and allow them to grow into a plant you can prune into a story.

What are you currently working on?
W.M. Gunn My 13th full novel will be an extraordinary piece of history. It will focus on the lives of a farming family in Texas during the Civil War.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
W.M. Gunn History has always fascinated me and how history can lend itself to great stories. I used to extensively travel West Texas, and stop to read every historical marker. Local and regional history can be the base for creative writing.
