The idea started swirling around after rereading a favorite from Tamora Pierce with her goddess of chaos. The question circled in my head, what would it be like to be chosen by chaos? My poor husband and my friends heard several versions of the story before we landed here, on Blessed.

The best thing is hearing from my readers. I started getting out there by posting fanfiction on fanfiction.net and AO3. Hearing from my readers made my day every single time. If I'm having writer's block, I didn't enjoy writing whatever came before that moment. I often go back, reread what lead me to that point and make a decision about whether I'm going to scrap a whole chapter or not. Often times I do, until I find a storyline that inspires me to keep writing.
If I can't even start a story from writer's block, I take a break. Often times I'll read a book, play a video game, watch a movie. Something else to relax my mind before jumping back in. Maybe something will spark a bit of imagination along the way.

Keep writing. Practice, practice, practice. Write fanfiction. Write your own stories. Write whatever circles in your brain. The more you write, the more you find your style and develop your craft. Find people who will be honest about your writing with what they like and don't. Be prepared for constructive criticism. And in the end, make sure you are happy.

I've always had a mind full of characters and stories. Early on, I found writing out those stories helped clear my mind for a while and entertained not only me but those around me. It very quickly became my escape, my fun, and something I could share with people.
