As an editor, I'm working on Ben Rankel's Frank original graphic novel. Set during the Frank Slide disaster of 1903, it is a compelling crime thriller. Also, Sharkasaurus from Spencer Estabrooks and Jethro Morales. Half T-Rex, half great white shark, all killing machine. A great comic book in the best monster movie tradition with lots of humour. My own writing includes finishing Blood Light for Al Davison, the follow-up to When Big Bears Invades, and a new fantasy prose novel set in the 1800s.

You know, the scariest thing about this situation? Is realizing I'm finally going to do what the voices keep telling me to do.

A combination of being ruthless with time. I find the best way to get round writer's block is to sit down and write for 3o minutes at least, every morning once my brain is energized. Even if the writing isn't specifically for the book itself. And, by working on more than one project at a time. That way I can drop into a different story whilst my subconscious mulls the blocked narrative.

Write, the cliche holds true. And read a lot.

Sometimes an idea is sparked almost fully formed, they are the gems. It doesn't happen very often, perhaps a handful of times in all, but it is great when it does. For other stories, it is often a case of wanting to tackle a theme or event and crafting a story that explores it whilst being emotionally and intellectually entertaining. That is usually much harder.

Ah! Inspiration for When Big Bears Invade came from looking at the Pacific Rm 2 news from Guillermo, and thinking 'how come monsters and aliens always got for Washington, NY, Tokyo London and Paris? Why not Canadian cities?' I pretty much had the idea and storyline for the whole book in that moment, and figuring our that it could work alongside the story universe Nyco Rudolph was already creating for universe made the whole book click into place.
