Here is my greatest fear in one sentence: accidentally destroying the person or thing you love. The stories you hear of parents who forget their child in the car on a hot summer day . . . those stories and stories like them haunt and terrify me. The idea that we would punish or imprison anyone who has gone through something so harrowing is tragic, IMO. They will suffer for the rest of their lives more than anyone could imagine.

I'm brushing up on my philosophy this summer, and I'm currently reading A History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russell and The Complete Essays by Montaigne. I also just bought Heavy by Kiese Laymon, after hearing the author on the This is Actually Happening podcast.

The mystery that plagues me is why I have spent so much time in unhappy, dysfunctional romantic partnershipships. I am generally fascinated by hidden or unseen motives, and what we learn through suffering. I do love a good story about a bad relationship! One of my favorites is An Adultery by Alexander Theroux. What an incredible writer with amazing insight into the narcissistic personality.
