Ahimsa Kerp Good questions, Goodreads.

I can honestly say I've never thought about this. I find most fictional couples to be contrived at best. However, Julián Carax and Penélope Aldaya from Shadow of the Wind have that doomed romantic tragedy that I do so like.
Ahimsa Kerp Hi James.
Good question. I always thought the first century CE was one of the most interesting in Roman history. The decline of the Julio-Claudians meant Rome had to learn how to have a succession (see the year 69, for instance) whilst still dominant throughout Europe and the Mediterranean.

It seemed the perfect time to hit Rome with a global crisis. I was also interested in whether or not a lower tech culture would be more effective in combating the undead.

Oh, and I hadn't heard of those books. Thanks for the recommendation.

Ahimsa Kerp Actually, from the name of a beer my publisher saw at a pub in Tasmania.
Ahimsa Kerp Don't show your shizz to anyone else for years into the process. That thing you just wrote and you want to know if it's any good? Well, it's not. Keep writing. Keep reading too.
Ahimsa Kerp It's probably the second best job that you don't have to wear pants while working.
