I sit down and write about it. Seriously, I start writing about the frustration and why I'm feeling stuck and pretty soon I'm talking about where I'm at with the story and where it could go and then I'm writing.

I love living in worlds that don't exist or don't exist anymore. Where you can make it all up and choose the path and the direction your character takes.

Sit down and begin to write. Don't edit until you are finished - get the story out. There is plenty of time later to critique and rewrite - but if your inner critic comes out too soon, it's easy to shut down.

Life is where most of my ideas come from. I see something that catches my eye and all of a sudden a story builds around it. Like today, I stopped at a garage sale. The women running the sale were sisters and they were cleaning out their aunt's home. That's a story in itself, and then there were the items for sale which told more of the story.

I have several works in progress. I'm editing a women's fiction book about three generations called, "Our Secret Lives." I also am currently working on a memoir and the next book in the series, "The Exodus," for young adults.

I'm lucky in that inspiration finds me. I'm inspired when I'm out shopping by interactions that I notice. I'm inspired by the world of nature. But mostly I'm inspired by conversations that I overhear - so don't sit down near me in a restaurant because I'm probably taking notes.
