Ryder Islington For me, inspiration comes from everywhere: family, friends, the newspaper, television, books I've read, covers I've seen, photos, dreams, aspirations...The imagination is a funny thing. Some days it likes to burrow underground so it can't be found, and sometimes it screams in my ear. But sometimes, I just steal things from other creative people and make it my own.
Ryder Islington I have at least six spiral notebooks, each of which represents a different story. When I am totally blocked as far as one story is concerned. I switch stories. Each is very different, and so it provides stimulus for new thoughts, new ideas.
The real secret to overcoming writer's block it to write, even if it's just recipes, or letters to friends. Write every day. If you can't figure out what to do with your suspense story, work on a time travel, or a love story, or an historical. Just write.
Ryder Islington 1. Write. Write. Write.

Ryder Islington I'm just finishing the revisions on ULTIMATE GAME, A Trey Fontaine Mystery. Trey Fontaine is an FBI agent whose partner is in a coma after her cover is blown while investigating human trafficking. But there's so much more going on in his life that he struggles to stay focused. It's a psychological drama, going deep into the mind of the characters, including the sociopath who sells girls. And this woman, this sociopath, has some strange ideas about how to use the girls.
Ryder Islington The best thing about being an author is that a big part of the job is to daydream. We get paid to stare into the stars, or the deep blue sky, or the ocean, and imagine.
