Barry W. Levy By refusing to believe it exists. When I don't feel inspired, or don't know how to start something, I write 'a piece of crap' and change or edit it later. One way or another things get clarified, and sometimes it's by writing something that is completely wrong. That can be a great springboard.
Barry W. Levy Hanging out with a bunch of wild characters at my desk late at night, and watching them work things out while I write it down.
Barry W. Levy Don't do what I did. I started writing 25 years ago and then stopped because I thought I was avoiding people too much. Barry W. Levy The War Machine's main character 'Kick' is based on a Canadian I met who told me his stories about fighting with MACV-SOG during the Vietnam War. The backstory of the main character is real, and the rest of the book is historical-fiction.
