D.M. Coffman Her innocent life was over. The young girl had been stolen, never to be found again within the insidious underbelly of human sex trafficking.
D.M. Coffman I research a topic I'm interested. As I research and get familiar with the jargon, the story starts to unfold.
D.M. Coffman I'm not an outgoing person, so writing suits me--long hours of sitting at my computer playing out stories in my head. It can be a little hard on the eyes, so I use computer glasses to help with eye strain. Writing also exercises my brain in problem-solving. When something in a plot doesn't fit the way I had planned, it usually takes my brain a day or two to work through resolving the situation. It's a great feeling when that happens!
D.M. Coffman I carry a notebook with me and when I notice an interesting character or scenario, I write it down. When I'm having writer's block I get out my notebook and review those building blocks.
D.M. Coffman My last book was Above the Best: The Remarkable Life of Seeley E. Ralphs. It is a biography of my father. He was an amazing man, but his life ended too soon because of undetected melanoma cancer. I wanted my grandchildren to know him, so I wrote the book. I spent his last six months interviewing and recording him talking about his life experiences. I also interviewed family members to get their stories. Then, I wrote those memories into a narrative so the younger family members would have the opportunity to know what a fascinating person he was.
D.M. Coffman The Net thriller series novels. I have rewritten The Hainan Incident into the first two books of The Net thriller series. They are titled The Net Conspiracy and The Hainan Conflict, and they will be out this week! The third book--The Panama Contagion--I am writing now for release early next year. I plan five books in this series. Please visit my web page at dmcoffman.com and submit your ideas for characters and/or plots in my upcoming books, and if I choose your idea, I'll mention you in the book and send you a Net Conspiracy t-shirt!
D.M. Coffman Take classes, practice good English sentence structure, write every day.
