Love Was Near is inspired by the movie, Trust Fund. The main character's father owns a publishing company and she desperately wants to be a writer, although she has the talent, she's distracted and makes some very poor life decisions, when she realizes what she's done, and comes back home, she finally has success with her writing career. The book she writes in the movie is Love Was Near. I hadn't intended on writing it, but when started asking question about what was in the book, I felt challenged to write it. It's written from the main character's voice and it's about her personal journey, and what she learned along the way.

Anything can inspire me, everyday life, because we all know truth is stranger than fiction. Or I hear a story and I think that's cool, but what if everything was different. I've been re-writing books and movies since I was little. If I wasn't happy with the ending, I would have to re-write it before I could stop thinking about it.

I write screenplays, and the last two movies I've written have characters that are authors. My current project is writing the book that goes along with my last movie, HOW TO PICK YOUR SECOND HUSBAND FIRST. I'm also working on another script.

I think being a writer is much like when you were a kid and you used your imagination, we'd make up games. Of course, this was before computers and video games. I don't know if we get much of an opportunity to do that as adults.

When I don't know what comes next, I just do something else, a routine task or go for a walk, until I figure out what my character would do next, or I just keep writing, knowing that I'll probably go a different direction later, but at least it's fun to explore all your options.
