Many of my earliest memories have been dismissed: I've been told incidents that I vividly remember didn't actually happen at all! If those events didn't happen, why are my memories of them still so strong? If they happened as I remember them, why does my mother lie about them?

Elspeth Noblin and Robert Fanshaw, in 'Her Fearful Symmetry' by Audrey Niffeneger. I love their devotion to each other, and the honesty of their relationship (which is ironic, given the way things turn out).
I also love Maggie Adair and David McDonald, in Jane Beaton's 'Class' & 'Rules' - mostly because of their personalities in the books, but also because he is unashamedly based on my favourite actor ;)

As a writer of fiction, the best thing about it for me is the freedom to explore the experiences - the thoughts, feelings, emotions and intentions etc - of my characters, and the world they inhabit.

I'm working on book four at the moment; although it's a sequel to the 'New Beginnings' trilogy, it will be a stand-alone story.
