Sarah Skilton Creating characters and worlds that previously did not exist, and living hundreds of different lives that way.
Sarah Skilton I would love to check out the traveling circus in The Night Circus, and attend the extraordinary-sounding magic shows.
Sarah Skilton My husband is a full-time professional magician, and I've always loved books that offer a behind-the-scenes look at an otherwise hidden world. It was a total blast imagining an underground magic club and the characters who would inhabit it. The concept of magician rivalries goes back to the vaudeville era if not earlier and I really wanted to include mystery, romance and humor to round out the story. A friend of mine describes the book as "juicy noir." I hope you have as much fun reading Club Deception as I did writing it.
Sarah Skilton I really loved Bex and Nick from THE ROYAL WE. Their banter, friendship, and love of bad TV were engaging, hilarious, and so loveable!
Sarah Skilton Two young adult novels and one adult novel.
Sarah Skilton Read constantly. And then write the book you would most want to read.
Sarah Skilton Hi Anji! Thanks for the question. :) When I was a kid I fluctuated between wanting to be a Disney animator and wanting to be a wildlife photographer, but honestly, writing IS the dream job. I always wanted to tell stories and create characters, for as long as I can remember. My sister and I used to perform and record original soap operas, dramas, comedies, game shows, news programs, and commercials onto cassette tapes. I also wrote letters to my favorite authors--such as James Howe and Tad Williams--and they wrote back! That definitely inspired me.
