Royce Wilson I make myself write something, even if I'll end up deleting it later. Just write.
Royce Wilson Connecting with readers and giving them an escape into an interesting story.
Royce Wilson Two books: Code Black about a female undercover vice detective who "blacks out" when her partner is killed in front of her; six months later, she is murdered in her vehicle while on patrol.
My other current project is The Wordsmith, about a supervisor at a law enforcement agency, who is also the speech-writer for the sheriff. When she sends a cryptic email to a former boyfriend/former detective asking for his help, she never shows up for the meeting and her body is discovered a few days later.
Royce Wilson Most of my inspiration comes from crime scenes I was involved with as a forensic investigator with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa, FL.
Royce Wilson My current book—the one I'm working on now—is titled Code Black. I got the idea from a conversation while I was still at the sheriff's office in Tampa, FL, in which the term code black was used to describe a deputy who had blanked out during a stressful scene. I thought it was an interesting concept for a book, and I hope my readers will agree.
