Emma Haughton By the thought of all the time slipping away...
Emma Haughton Not having to wake up before 9am then getting to work till lunchtime in my jammies. And getting emails or great reviews from readers who enjoyed your book - that beats everything.
Emma Haughton Badly. I suffered hugely with it when I first started to write fiction. The first sniff of rejection and I completely lost faith in what I was doing. This went on for years. I only realised it was actually writer's block when it dawned on me that just the thought of opening the word file for my novel made me feel panicky and sick.

In the end I conquered it by setting a timer for 30 minutes, putting on some relaxation music and telling myself I only had to endure it for half an hour. After a month or two I had enough momentum to dispense with the props and go it alone.
