Martin Bodek Since receiving your question this morning, I've pondered how best to answer this concisely, which is impossible. I'll be succinct by presenting my thoughts in five ways: 1) Allow me to re-stress that my arguments against Kelemen are against his arguments, not what he's arguing for. I agree with what he's arguing for, but it can be argued better. 2) I believe in God, but I don't believe that what we do in his name is correct. He may have had other ideas entirely, but ha'aretz nosan lifnei adam, right? 3) Very easy arguments can be made that the earth was created by committee. Why commit ourselves to a single God? I have never found the arguments against this concept to be worthy. Rather, I have found them dismissive. 4) My opinion is ever-evolving, and rarely is fixed in place. I prefer to be unsure. Better for the thinking mind. 5) Finally, this funniest clip from a very bad movie, Hail Ceasar!, puts it perfectly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGpsX.... The final scene has him substituting the line with "It's complicated." It is.
Martin Bodek I was heavily involved in the organization of the race. That, coupled with my interest in books that cover races, nuts and bolts, from start to finish, was the initial impetus. Realizing no book exists, that I know of, that gets full input from each and every race participant, got me going on the project.
Martin Bodek Read, a lot; write, a lot.
Martin Bodek "Extracts from Adam's Diary," which imagines daily diary entries from the biblical figure. It might be considered a sequel to Mark Twain's diary books for Adam and for Eve, a century in the making.
Martin Bodek By having been genetically infused with the curiosity gene. I wonder about everything, especially about matters for which material does not exist. I wish to fill in these niches. To paraphrase Gandhi, I want to make the books I wish to see in the world.
Martin Bodek Fulfilling my own promise to myself to be one when I grew up. To quote Christopher Hitchens: "...being a writer's what I am rather than what I do,"
Martin Bodek I don't. My head is so abuzz with so many ideas that I've accumulated over the years, that I feel I'll never have a shortage of anything to write. I may get stuck penning the perfect phrase or sentence or paragraph, but I'll never have a shortage of topics to write about.
