I have 2 things to pass on!
My advice is find a system that will keep you from getting overwhelmed. Many people are amazed that I have written 31 books in my short tenure. Many writers suffer from writer's block. I suggest to OUTLINE each chapter with 2 to 3 main events taking place. And shoot for 10 chapters per book. If you are writing a book, you already have the MAIN IDEA. Therefore, break it up in small chucks that you can visualize and will move the pace of the story without it stalling with the use of an outline!

Write, Write, Write. Even if it's just a page a day, WRITE IT! Just like you may get up to work a job you don't care for, or may not be in the mood, don't let your fire and dream stall on a whelm. To gain a fan base, you have to create books for them to get to know you by. If you have already dropped PART 1, don't keep readers waiting for the next installment. Reads will just go elsewhere for their fix.
I have A LOT more insight, but those are a few.
