I get inspiration everywhere, my family, my friends, my students. Moments such as a rainy day, a sunset, a coffee while reading… Sometimes, I go to a park surrounded by trees and write sitting on the grass. My photography work is a good source of inspiration because I write about the story behind the image.

I am also a professional photographer, a few years ago I made a photography series called At the Same Time and my recently book is a collection of poems inspiring on those images. My poetry has a personal narrative as the images have. Together, they expose different aspects of life such as love, heartbreak, healing, inner peace… Everyone could feel reflected on this book.

I received on my birthday an English edition of The Name of the Rose, I already read in Spanish language, but I love Umberto Ecco so I read the English edition. After that, The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker. I am reading now The Girl on the Ice by Robert Bryndza, and when I finish it, I will read Dead on the Dance Floor by Heather Graham. I am a library’s mouse, I can’t live without reading.

I came from Cuba, we don’t have the kind of life that I have here in USA. The kids in Cuba play on the streets and nothing happens. I am a teacher here and my students spend most of their time in front of computers. One of the things that impressed me was seeing a crime scene a few months after I move to Miami. It was horrible and touching, I am always been attracted to thrillers, but it is completely different to have that experience. That could be a plot for a book.
