Rue Allyn My favorite fictional couple has to be Juliana and Robert from Knight Errant. Each has huge problems at the beginning of the story and each has different ways of handling those problems. Juliana's perpetually happy outlook would seem totally wrong for Robert's need to atone for sins he didn't even commit. However as each is challenged to the brink and their respective outlooks are nearly broken, they find strength in each other to solve their problems. I love fiercely independent characters who learn that self-reliance is good but not everything.
Rue Allyn I suffer. I mope. I talk to other authors. I set writing goals--really small goals, so I can feel better about myself and get inspired to write more. Here's a secret, the more I hear from readers, the less likely I am to get writer's block.
Rue Allyn The zone and being able to work at home. If you've never experience the zone, its a rarified state which, for me, is all consuming. I lose all sense of time and place and become so involved in the story that I'm almost not aware of typing on my keyboard. I love being transported like that. It's why I read, and one of many reasons why I write.
Rue Allyn Write. Don't worry about anything else, write.
Rue Allyn I'm working on a military paranormal involving the Fae.
Rue Allyn Feedback from readers is essential. Without you, I drift and procrastinate.
Rue Allyn My most recent book, The Surrender of Seona MacKai - MacKai Brides 3 is a Medieval Highland romance. Seona is one of seven sisters, first introduced in my novel Knight Defender - Knight Chronicles 3. In that story, while their brother is away, the sisters conspired to defeat an English army camped on their doorstep, (it was actually a harbor, but you get the idea). They not only succeeded in defeating this army, they did so without use of any traditional weaponry. That is where I first met, Neilina, Brigdhe, Maeve, Seona, Keeva, and Artis. The oldest of the seven sisters, Sorcha was the heroine of my novel Knight Protector - Knight Chronicles 2. However, when I wrote her story, I did not know she had six sisters. I had to write Sorcha's brother's story (Knight Defender) before I learned how extensive the MacKai family is. I have plans to write many MacKai stories at various points in history. I love this family.
