Janet Goddard For my most recent book, I got inspired learning about African Gray Parrots and their ability to mimic. They are truly remarkable animals! I also knew that I wanted to try to write a psychological suspense story, so I decided to use an African Gray Parrot to do it.
Janet Goddard I really don't know. I just like to do it. I just get an idea and see if it can grow. I'm pretty open minded to any kind of writing, so it doesn't take much to inspire me. I'm also a Creative Writing teacher, so I'm constantly coming up with prompts for my students, and I tend to write along with them.
Janet Goddard I just finished my second novel, Kasuko Means I Love You, so right now I'm putting together my submission packet. I hope you'll read it when it comes out!
Janet Goddard Write on! Do it because you enjoy it, but also do it because of the challenge. It's hard work, but it's beautiful work.
Janet Goddard The best part of being a writer is the time I spend writing--particularly if the story is surprising me. It's an act of discovery and freedom.
Janet Goddard I usually just try to play my way through a block and just let myself write crazy things and be free to find my way back into the story. I know if I just keep writing, I'll eventually get back on the right path.
