I am writing a space (soap) opera, which I post as a blog fairly regularly. I am rewriting another of my 'Small Town Happiness' series set in Belgrade, Nebraska. And I am working on the rough draft of a 3rd romance in that series, this one set in Limon, Colorado.

Learn your English grammar. Get a copy of Strunk and White's "Elements of Style" and study it. That isn't to say you have to follow the rules slavishly, particularly when you are writing dialogue. But you should have a good grasp of the rules.

I have found that when I have writer's block, I have taken my characters down a path that they don't like. I usually have to back-track a page or two and find where I sent them in the wrong direction, then change things to a new direction.

It would have to be a medical mystery. My sister died at age 16 when her kidneys failed and only hours after she was given one of my father's kidneys. Six years later, my dad died of... kidney failure.
