C.M. Keller The best thing about being a writer is that I get to live multiple lives. While my normal life is being a wife and mother of four, in my other lives, I've been a time-traveling, teen-aged boy, a medieval chatelaine of a castle, a Dutch woman hiding from the Nazis, a Southern woman who finds out a terrible family secret, etc.
C.M. Keller My favorite answer to this question is Jack London's famous quote.

"You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club."
C.M. Keller Write your story. Edit. Then edit again. Then edit again and again and again. Writing is really about editing.

Your first draft gets the structure of the story on paper. Editing makes it worth reading.
C.M. Keller I try to write through it. Normally, I do all my writing on the computer. But when I feel the story stop, I get out a pen and paper and write longhand. Writing on paper tends to free up my mind to try out things. And usually somewhere among the freewriting, I find something that will jump start my story.
