Sue Knott As a sequel, it's a continuation more than an original idea. However, I do find that when I learn some new or interesting fact, or come to some new realization about the human condition, I immediately try to work that into whatever book I am currently working on. A new scientific development can change my entire world view. I just pray no one finds out what dark matter really is until after I've published and before I start on a next book!
Sue Knott The husband nags at me until I can't stand it any longer.
Sue Knott I put my pen on the page or my fingers on the keyboard. That usually takes care of it. There is nothing more exciting than a blank piece of paper.
Sue Knott Write, write and write some more. And double that advice for editing. I was lucky in that I had a full time job as an advertising copywriter. While the writing at work was different than fiction writing, it was creative, it needed to be concise, and it demanded that I hijack the reader's interest. Not everyone is lucky enough to refine their writing skills while getting paid, but you can always write in your spare time. (A footnote: many working copywriters will not consider having the job "lucky"...there is quite a bit of stress involved. Be forewarned.)
Sue Knott I am currently working on a sequel to my book, Catching On Fire. This has been planned as a trilogy from the start. I'm afraid some family/health issues sidelined me and I am waaayyyy behind deadline for the second book. However, I am determined not to release it until it is fabulous. I want this second book to be even better than the first.
