The writing; creating worlds and breathing life into characters. Putting my thoughts on the page. It's amazing to read back something that you've already written and think "I wrote that" although, sometimes you're not always so lucky, and you think "jeez, why did I write that?".

Write. As much and as often as you can. I know it's advice that everyone gives, but it's truly the best advice. Don't edit until you've finished writing--editing before the piece is finished is a plague and dooms you in a state of critical thinking before you need to go there.
