Laura Monagan The question has three problems: "how," "get," and "inspired." In my experience, if I'm feeling inspired, I have no idea how I got there. Laura Monagan The opening scene for The Unaccompanied Tour came to me almost immediately after I'd finished writing a memoir, A Strange Place Called Home. The scene was moving day. I could hear squeal of the packing tape coming off the roll and feel Evelyn's anxiety as the movers packed up her belongings. In my mind the whole scene was clear and complete. I typed it up, never imagining the story would go anywhere, and the details started to reveal themselves. Much to my surprise, a larger story started to unfold. The process wasn't always easy after that, but that's how it began.
