Hi Rae,
Thank you for your interest in my story. Really appreciate your reaching out! Will look into a visit that way...maybe in the spring. Thanks again.

Hello Amber. Thank you for your questions and kind words.
As far as living without a mother, by the time I decided to cut off all contact with her, she had done so many bad things to me, I was relieved to be away from her. To me she was dead. That's what I told myself.
Sorry my story triggered emotions that had been dormant inside you. In answer to your question about moving on...I don't know that I have, not completely. In the second book, I wrote about the long, painful struggle with the after effects of my abuse. And I still have a few lingering issues. Not to sound negative, but I don't know if any of us who've been abused early in life are able to just put it all behind us...it's more like we try to bury it with happy memories and by surrounding ourselves with positive people. I wish you all the best moving forward. ❤

Hi Paige. Thank you for reading my story, and for reaching out. Your question is one I've asked myself many times over the years. Looking back as an adult, I really don't know how I made it through. I'm quite sure I couldn't do it now. It's funny, how when you're a kid you just cope. I can remember I always thought that things would get better, that one day I'd wake up and Mama would love me. Maybe that false hope kept me going, and looking forward to summers at my grandmother's, seeing the few friends I had. And my days were so occupied with things like getting something to eat and finding a place to use the bathroom...I think the struggle, the challenge, sidetracked me from realizing how bad my life actually was.
I'm so sorry you suffered, are still suffering. I can see pain in your words. Please stay strong and keep in mind that things will not be like they are now forever. There are so many possibilities in every new day. Try not to let what happened in the past ruin your future. If you do that you are allowing your abuser to continue to control your life. I wish you the best! ❤
