Kristin F. Johnson Hi Alania,
Sorry for this late response. I'm happy to answer any questions you have on Good Reads.
If this is a teacher, let me know if you are interested in a school visit.
Thanks and I hope you're having a great summer!

Kristin F. Johnson I have always loved writing and been involved in writing in someway or another over my life. In college, I was on the school newspaper, and I was also the yearbook editor. At most of my jobs out of college, I would work on the company newsletter and was always writing articles. I always wanted to write a longer piece like a novel and finally learned how to do that in my 30s. The most important thing was finishing a full draft and then learning how to edit it to make it better.
Kristin F. Johnson I am definitely a dog lover. My first pet was a dog when I was growing up and I currently have a dog as well. She is a half labrador half Australian Shepherd and weighs in at 80 pounds. She is very lovable so yes I am a dog lover :-)
Kristin F. Johnson Having written something gives me a great sense of accomplishment. But a day when you are in the middle of the scene is awesome too. Seeing a blank page turn into a page with words and a story or poem on it is amazing to me.
Kristin F. Johnson Read a lot and write a lot. And read in any genre, including the one you want to write in. And don't let other people discourage you. Sometimes people are discouraging because they can't do something themselves. Be unstoppable.
Kristin F. Johnson Feeling "inspired" to write for me happens more when I treat writing as part of my daily routine. I get up at the same time each day and write at the same place. When I do this consistently, I find it easier to get back into my writing for the day faster. If I'm searching for inspiration, I often will read a book like Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird or watch an inspiring movie such as Miracle or Invincible.
Kristin F. Johnson I feel like I have writer's block when I don't know what should happen next in the story. I also sometimes just have to trick myself into getting started for the day, so I might set a timer for 10 minutes to help me get going and writing words down.
Kristin F. Johnson I'm finishing a story inspired by my mom. When she was 11, her mom was quarantined with TB. Once her mom was quarantined, they were apart for a year and a half. When I first heard about the TB, it sounded like a perfect set up for a middle grade story!
Kristin F. Johnson I had a yellow Labrador who was rescued from an Indiana puppy mill. She was up for adoption because she was no longer able to "produce" puppies for the mill. She stole my heart! I wondered what her life had been like and wondered if someone could have saved her sooner. Thus, the story was born.
