My characters kicked around in my head for well over a decade before I had the nerve to put them on the page. I finally found my courage from my daughter, who has already published 5 books. I went back to school so I could become her editor, and found myself wondering "What if I..."
I thought it would be fun to tell readers about supposedly haunted places in my state, and found inspiration from some of the wacky antics in my workplace. I wove in my children; most of what they do in the books, they have done in real life. My cats are also in the books; the main focus is on Shadow, who passed away, so I immortalized him.
Most of my ideas come to me as I am writing. I honestly don't know where some of them come from.
