If you want to write, write--but don't expect to make a career out of it. Except for the JK Rowlings and EL Jameses out there, it's hard to make a living as an author. To my mind, if you're writing just for the money, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. Do it for the love of it, or for your friends, or for your fans, or for simple catharsis; do it for yourself, not for a pay-check or some kind of validation from people who look for sales over stories. But definitely *do* it.

I'm currently working on putting together an anthology with author Sorin Suciu. It's in memory of Sir Terry Pratchett, with all funds going to Alzheimer's Research UK. It's a great cause, and a lot of fun! We've got a brilliant batch of authors from all over the world participating. It will be out in October :D
