The hardest part of writing is actually sitting down and doing it. It's so easy to find a hundred excuses why you shouldn't be writing, so don't let those get in your way.
I actually have my writing time scheduled into my calendar. As a mother of young children, days can be crazy. But if I have a specific time set aside, it's easier to sit down for at least a few minutes and get that precious writing time in. And all of our schedules are like that--it's hard to find the time. But if you're serious about being a writer, you need to make writing a priority. Stop procrastinating!

Once upon a time, I thought the only was to write a book was to start at the beginning and plow all the way to the end. This novel idea led to a lot of frustration, just sitting at my keyboard staring at the computer monitor, and basic dislike of writing. "But how can that be? I should be loving writing," I thought.
Then came the inspiration to instead of just trudging through the murky parts, just to something fun instead. The murky parts will always be there: you can come back later.
So as I'm writing, if I get stuck in a scene that's just not flowing for whatever reason, I just to another scene. And a lot of the time, working on something else gives me the distance I need from a difficult part of a manuscript to be able to come back to it and get it just the way I want it.
