I've read Colleen Gleason's Murder in the Lincoln White House, Murder in the Oval Library, Sharon Farrow's Mulberry Mischief, Agatha Christie's Carribean Mystery, Caroline Fraser's Prairie Fires, J.B. West's Upstairs at the White House, and am currently reading L.A. Chandlar's The Silver Gun.

I live a pretty boring life! But I do listen to any stories that catch my ear when chatting with extended family and friends. Sometimes truth is better than fiction - and I do add little details I've heard into subplots. Changing the names to protect the innocent, of course.

That's a tough Q! Since I can never choose ONE, I have to go with Darcy and Elizabeth from Pride & Prejudice (two great characters, who both had to change their opinions and learn to love), and also Aragorn and Arwen from Tolkien's LOTR, who faced terrible odds (Aragorn) and terrible consequences (Arwen) in achieving love and a future together.

There are lots of reviewers on the web, so I would check that out - my writing schedule prevents me from reviews or interviews. Sorry, and best wishes on your series! Here's one possibility - http://joannetroppello.weebly.com/blog

For Wouldn't It Be Deadly, I suddenly thought, "What if Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins solved mysteries together?" And I knew I couldn't pull it off myself, being more into American history -- but my longtime critique partner is an expert in British history. That's how we became D.E. Ireland, a team of writers.

FINISH the book. You must write from beginning to middle to end (or skip around, but get it *all* down in a first draft) to understand your process. And then revise. Revise again. Put it away for a month, revise it again. Then write another. It takes several manuscripts to learn the craft. STUDY the genre you love, read - read - read - read - read. Never stop writing or reading.
