Finish. That was the single most important piece of advice I ever received. Too many times writers will start a story, only to get scared, bogged down, or lost in the process and they give up. There is something freeing in completing that first work. It will open the doors for you.

Strangely enough, I got my last book from my own life and what it means to not be accepted by a parent. I built some of what I wished I had in a father in two characters, Brice Ellis and Chasem Black, one human and one a revenant.
